Metropolitan win for United Syndications

Thursday 11 December 2014, 9:39am

Onpicalo scored arguably his best and most courageous win yet first up in the 0-84 over 1300 meters at Sandown on Saturday December 6 by refusing to lay down when challenged everywhere and by everyone in the straight holding on superbly to score a most deserved win from place getters The New Boy and Chile Express who closed late.

Beaten narrowly at Caulfield when second to Pin Your Hopes in May and again when beaten a half head by Ali Vital again in May at Sandown no one could begrudge the 5yo son of Hussonet this victory.

Onpicalo’s never say die approach to racing is one of the reasons his army of followers love him dearly and his tenaciousness was seen by all again when challenged looking beaten on several occasions in the straight, however his will to win kicked in and he hung on by a long neck to score a very exciting victory for his Syndicate.

A modest $40,000 buy from the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions Onpicalo has really been a terrific purchase and his record is very impressive having had 18 starts now for 6 wins (5 of those being Metropolitan) 2 seconds and 4 thirds for $222,595 in stakes.

There will be no lofty plans for Onpicalo who’s wins are never electric but always exciting and he will be continued to be placed in ratings based races to the best advantage for his Syndicate over the coming weeks where it is hoped that there may be some further excitement in store!
