Dwayne Dunn extends Melb premiership lead

Wednesday 24 June 2015, 7:09am

Dwayne Dunn has extended his lead in the Melbourne jockeys' premiership with a winner at Sale.

The midweek meeting at the country Victorian track carried metropolitan status and Dunn added to his season tally with victory aboard the Darren Weir-trained Strong Hand.

Victory on the $1.70 favourite moved Dunn two wins clear of Damien Oliver and Craig Williams in the premiership.

Craig Williams, back in town after riding Brazen Beau at Royal Ascot, went winless at Sale while Damien Oliver didn't ride at the meeting but will be back at Flemington on Saturday.

Dunn has 49 metropolitan winners for the season.

Leading apprentice Patrick Moloney notched his 42nd metropolitan win for the season when four-year-old Tankster scored a front-running victory on a quick back-up after finishing second at Cranbourne on Sunday.

Glen Boss and apprentice Michael Dee claimed winning doubles while Strong Hand was the first of two winners for trainer Darren Weir who is six wins clear of Peter Moody in the Melbourne trainers' title.
