Kingdom Of Dreams brings up the hat-trick

Saturday 29 November 2014, 4:08pm

He may be a handful off the track but Kingdom Of Dreams has loads of talent on it.

Providing Damien Lane with the second leg of a winning double, Kingdom Of Dreams, the $3.30 favourite, brought up a hat-trick of victories in the wedrive.com.au Handicap at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Kingdom Of Dreams has been a difficult horse Mark Kavanagh and his staff because he refuses to settle once he gets to the track on raceday.

Kavanagh said the son of Fastnet Rock was fairly well behaved in the stable and at trackwork but was on his worst behaviour at the races.

But Kavanagh also said Kingdom Of Dreams is a horse with a lot of potential.

"He'll be a very good horse once he learns to settle down," Kavanagh said.

"We've tried many, many things and if we can get a little bit out of him every time then it's enough.

"He's slowly come right this preparation but is still getting hot, but is also racing very well."

Lane said Kingdom Of Dreams was a little bit more worked up than at his previous two wins at Cranbourne and Bendigo.

He said the secret to Kingdom Of Dreams was trusting the people who work with the gelding, including Kavanagh, his strapper, the clerk of the course and barrier staff.

"He can be a bit willing pre-race and I thought before today he was getting better, but today he was a bit awkward," Lane said.

"He's been beginning really well but he leapfrogged today and I found myself a few pairs further back than I wanted but he sprinted really well and proved that he's versatile."
