About us
Since our establishment by Robert Holmes à Court in 1971, we have earned a reputation around Australia for breeding, rearing, selling and racing champion thoroughbreds. With our proximity to the major breeding and racing centres in Western Australia and our outstanding infrastructure and facilities, we are well placed to build on this reputation in the years ahead.
Our range of stallions offer great potential and unrivalled value, and our comprehensive agistment services are second to none. Our band of broodmares form the heart of our stud and consistently produce top class yearlings for sale.
Of course, the real test of any stud is success on the racetrack, and our record in this respect stands tall. The ultimate test is to breed and race the winner of a Group 1 race, something we have done with the Melbourne Cup, Doncaster Handicap, Epsom Handicap, Ampol Stakes (now Emirates Stakes), Goodwood Handicap, WA Derby, Karrakatta Plate.
Services
We offer a full range of agistment services
In addition to standing stallions and selling yearlings at the sales each year, we accommodate and care for clients' horses as though they were our own.
Our agistment services include:
- resident broodmares
- part-time broodmares
- weanlings and yearlings
- spelling racehorses
Additional services include:
- foaling down
- weaning and handling
- yearling preparation
We only accept a limited number of resident broodmares as we are careful not to overstock our property and reduce the standard of service we provide. We wouldn't do it to our horses, so we wouldn't do it to yours.
Spelling racehorses are kept either in individual yards (all of which are irrigated throughout summer) or in small groups in larger paddocks. Again, our capacity to accept spellers is limited by our ability to provide the highest standard of service we can.
Mares who are due to foal are monitored 24 hours a day. We have a highly experienced Nightwatch person on duty throughout the season.
Our agistment services are certainly not the cheapest that can be found. However, we believe that anything less than the best is simply not good enough. Ours is not a business where corners can be cut.

Husson Lightning
Hussonet
Husson Lightning is the first Australian bred group winner by champion sire Hussonet, the pre-eminent sire son of Mr Prospector at stud. A precocious gifted juvenile, Husson Lightning won the time honoured group three Maribyrnong Plate, a race previously won by leading sires Bel Esprit, Testa Rossa, Canny Lad, Rancher, Baguette, Vain and Biscay.

Saxon’s pedigree combines the most dominant bloodline in australia with the most dominant bloodline in Europe. Saxon was a high class racehorse, notching his first win as a 2yo in Sydney and training on to win twice at group level over a mile as a 3yo. in his debut season, saxon was the most popular sire in Western Australia and the third most popular new season sire in Australia.
