Import Racing is proud to be offering shares in this serious colt by the most exciting first season sire, 5 x Gr.1 and Cox Plate winning hero, OCEAN PARK.


Waikato Stud stand Ocean Park and they have bred and raised this colt on their successful farm which has produced 30 individual Group 1 winners including World Champion Miler STARCRAFT, Champion Racehorse and Stallion O’REILLY, Dual Doncaster Champion SACRED FALLS, VISION AND POWER, ALAMOSA, DAFFODIL, METAL BENDER etc.


Director of Waikato Stud Mark Chittick has such a big opinion of this colt that he just had to keep shares in him. There’s no better confirmation that this horse could be special than the breeder staying in him.


You may be alarmed to know that NZ-Breds have won a staggering 25% of Gr.1 races in Australia last season (15/16), from just 5.4% of the racehorse population. The statistics speak for themselves!


THE SIRE
OCEAN PARK is one of the most exciting sire prospects of the modern era. He was an exhilarating racehorse winning an astounding 5 Gr.1 races including Australasia’s undisputed weight for-age championship, the WS Cox Plate, leaving boom colts ALL TOO HARD and PIERRO in his wake despite their 8kg weight advantage.

In his five Gr.1 wins alone, he beat 32 individual Gr.1 winners who have won an amazing 67 Gr.1 races between them.


Ocean Park was NZ’s leading first season sire, with his athletic offspring averaging $149,038 at the NZB Premier Sale and selling up to $330,000 at the Magic Millions Sale on the Gold Coast.


THE DAM
This colt is the first foal out of the O’Reilly mare PASADENA, an unraced FULL-SISTER to Champion 3yo and now successful sire, ALAMOSA.


Alamosa was a champion on the track winning 4 Gr.1 races as a two, three and four year old. The same blood runs through Pasadena’s veins and she has produced this outstanding specimen of a horse.


The grand-dam LODORE MYSTIC is the full-sister to Gr.2 winner PERFECT WORLD and stakes placed CENT FROM HEAVEN, who produced Gr.1 winner DAL CIELO.


This colt comes from the family of 12 individual Gr.1 winners including ALAMOSA, DAL CIELO, LIGHTS OF HEAVEN, FLAMBERGE, NO WINE NO SONG etc.


THE BROODMARE SIRE
O’REILLY has proven over the years to be an exceptional broodmare sire and finished runner up in the past three seasons on the NZ Broodmare Premiership by prizemoney earned.


O’Reilly as a broodmare sire has produced 40 stakes winners including Gr.1 stars SAVARIA, SACRED STAR, HUCKLEBUCK, I DO, COSTUME, IRISH FLING, DAFFODIL, STEPS IN TIME & THE POOKA , along with black-type standouts, THE DIAMOND ONE, MARITIMO, SHOPAHOLIC, NO EXCUSE MAGGIE, DIADEME, FINAL FORM, GIRL OF MY DREAMS, NANDOWRA and COMBAT KITTY.


THE TRAINER
This colt will be trained by IR’s exclusive Gr.1 winning trainer TIM MARTIN out of his Rosehill stables. Tim has trained multiple stakes winners over the years including Gr.1 winners EXCEED AND EXCEL, TYPHOON ZED and REDOUTE’S DANCER, and the recently Gr.1 placed HEAVEN’S ABOVE.


Tim commented “This is a nice colt; he’s big and strong and am really pleased that Import Racing have asked me to train him. Waikato Stud produce good horses and I have had plenty of success with them over the years”.


Tim’s natural horseman skills are second to none and the results are clearly evident in his winners and impressive strike rate.


THE BREEDING
This colt is bred on a 20/20 mating cross. This occurs when a pattern has two or more Graded Stakes Winners with CSI values above 20. This indicates that this pedigree is exceptional as there are at least two superior horses with a very similar pattern.


Horses bred on the same cross include Gr.1 winners OCEAN PARK, JIMMY CHOUX, VEYRON, HEAVENLY GLOW, COSTUME etc.

I am very excited about the purchase of the Ocean Park colt. Waikato Stud has bred and continues to breed some of the best thoroughbreds in the world and it is an absolute thrill to be able to acquire such a quality colt.


This is a big, strong horse with a great action and an equally great temperament. He is correct in conformation; he’s got a great big hindquarter, a good depth of girth and a strong shoulder.


He has passed all vigorous vet checks including x-rays, scope and clinical examination as low risk.
