A second chance at classic success is being lined up for Solicit after the filly returned to racing with an impressive victory at Flemington on Saturday.

Solicit showed strong staying promise last spring with her campaign culminating with a third placing in the VRC Oaks.

Trainer Matthew Ellerton felt she spoiled her chances by racing too keenly in the Flemington classic, but her latest win suggests she is racing more kindly.

"She gave Glen Boss a pretty hard ride in the Oaks here," Ellerton said.

"It was virtually her first campaign and she's had a good rest now and I think she's showing a lot more maturity."

Jockey Damian Lane took Solicit straight to the front and set an even pace that proved too strong for her opponents in the Group Three Vanity (1400m), scoring by 2-3/4 lengths.

Critical Angel ($51) easily held second by 3-1/2 lengths from Girl In Flight ($6.50).

The favourite Scratchy Bottom race ungenerously and found little running past some tired horses to finish fourth.

Ellerton will now plan a campaign aimed at the Australian Oaks at Randwick at Easter.

He said Solicit's lead-up could include the Group One Australian Guineas at Flemington in two weeks or the Kewney Stakes at the same track on March 8.

The filly would then be likely to run in the Phar Lap Stakes at Rosehill on March 22 and the the Oaks on April 19.

"We'll just see how she does in the next week and make a decision then," Ellerton said.

"Then we just have to keep her in one piece."

Solicit's win continued a great run for prolific owner David Moodie who last week claimed a black-type win for another of his fillies when Spirits Dance won the Kevin Hayes Stakes at Caulfield.
