Belle Couture could make debut at Bendigo

Tuesday 17 December 2013, 3:48pm

Black Caviar's younger half sister Belle Couture has been nominated for a fillies race at Bendigo on Sunday.

But trainer Danny O'Brien says her debut appearance depends on how she pulls up after she gallops on Tuesday.

"She's no certain thing. She's a chance to run," O'Brien said.

"We galloped her this morning.

"We'll see how she pulls up tomorrow morning and then we'll decide if we accept on Thursday.

"She's not far off running. If everything falls into place we'll be at Bendigo."

The filly has had two jump-outs at Flemington in the past month and won her most recent last Friday week.

Belle Couture was knocked down to BC3 Thoroughbreds, now in voluntary administration, for $2.6 million at last year's Easter Yearling Sale.

BC3 retains a share in the filly with the first meeting of creditors to be held on Thursday.

O'Brien's only horse running on Saturday at Flemington is the lightly-raced Spending.

The four-year-old mare has been nominated for two races but O'Brien says she will run in the Fiesta Star Handicap.

"She's ready to go," he said.

"She'll run in the 1200 metre race and she will run well."

Second to She Can Skate in the Listed Creswick Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on June 8, Spending has been off the scene since she ran second last in a race at teh same track two weeks later.
