More strikes furrther Gr 1 gold in Japan

Monday 16 December 2013, 11:42am

Ryan Moore scored another high-profile success in Japan as he partnered Asia Express to victory in the Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes.

The jockey landed the Japan Cup aboard Gentildonna last month and made it a Group One double in the country as he steered Asia Express to a length-and-a-quarter victory at Nakayama racecourse.

"He surprised me - he quickened up so well," Moore said. "When I rode him before, he looked like he was a horse with lots of gears.

"He's a special horse, because not many do both dirt and grass. His future should be bright.

"He feels like he hasn't got to the bottom of it yet, like there's more to come, so it'll be interesting to see how much progress he makes."
