Joao Moreira signs off in style at Kranji

Monday 14 October 2013, 1:37pm

Joao Moreira has ended his Singapore riding days in memorable fashion with six winners at his final Kranji meeting before moving to Hong Kong.

The Brazilian jockey has been the star of Singapore racing in recent years, notching 723 wins in less than five full seasons.

He is assured of his fourth jockeys' premiership this year and in September rode eight winners from eight rides at a Kranji meeting.

Moreira's six-win haul on Sunday's 12-race card included wins in his final two rides.

"I still can't believe I've won six races and at my last race meeting here," Moreira told the Singapore Turf Club website.

"It couldn't have finished any better.

"I'm so glad all my good friends, jockeys, trainers, owners, fans, everybody, are here to celebrate this last win and my last day in Singapore. This will stay in my heart forever."

Moreira will begin riding in Hong Kong on Sunday.
