ATC appoints Jamie Barkley as CEO

Friday 6 July 2018, 3:48pm

Jamie Barkley is to join the Australian Turf Club as chief executive, a position he currently holds with the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust.

ATC chairman Laurie Macri announced Barkley's appointment on Friday.

Barkley has more than 24 years experience in sports administration and is an avid racing fan.

"Our board is delighted to welcome a CEO of the calibre and skill set of Jamie, who has left such a prestigious position with the SCG Trust to join the ATC," Macri said.

"Jamie has over a long career built an outstanding record in sports administration, and also of looking after the best interests of members."

Barkley will take up the position in early October.

"I am excited about the opportunity ahead, joining the ATC to further position Sydney racing as amongst the strongest in Australia," he said.

"The ATC and its four Sydney racetracks are fantastic assets for Sydney, much like the SCG.

"I want to make sure all of New South Wales, including the ATC's members and partners get the most out of Sydney racing.

"I'm proud to lead a great team into the next chapter of racing's future."
