Bliss on extreme behaviour at Mornington

Wednesday 13 September 2017, 3:07pm

A race in her own backyard has seen Extreme Bliss on her best behaviour which has in turn led to victory at Mornington.

Trained at Mornington by David Brideoake, Extreme Bliss led throughout over Wednesday's 1000m journey of the Annie Ammitzboll Maiden.

A half-sister to black type winner Thames Court, Extreme Bliss let her supporters down on debut when unplaced at Bendigo.

"It was a mental thing, she melted herself," Brideoake's assistant trainer Alex Woodham's said.

"It was good to have a nice race at home for her and she was nice and relaxed."

Extreme Bliss sported ear muffs in Wednesday's race after having the headgear at Bendigo until they were removed before entering the barrier.

Woodhams said the ear muffs did their job.

"She was lovely and relaxed and she got around to the gates nice and quietly," Woodhams said.

"It's all paid off."

Woodhams expects the filly to get further than Wednesday's 1000m and said it was important to get a city win early in her career.

"David trained her mother and she won a stakes race in Perth and she's a half-sister to Thames Court and Our Harmony," Woodhams said.

"She's got a good pedigree there so it's good to get a city win on the board."
