Williams to ride Slipper winner in Moir

Wednesday 19 July 2017, 8:38am

Craig Williams has gained the light-weight ride on Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign when she returns in the Group One Moir Stakes.

The Gary Portelli-trained filly will carry 50kg in the Moir with her regular rider Ben Melham unable to get down to the weight for the Moonee Valley sprint on September 29.

Melham will be back aboard She Will Reign in the $10 million Everest on October 14 when she will carry 51kg.

Portelli said The Moir (1000m) and The Everest (1200m) were the only two confirmed races for She Will Reign in the spring.

The filly, raced by a Darby Racing syndicate, was the first horse confirmed for The Everest after a deal struck between the owners and slot holder Yu Long Investments.
