Darren Beadman with another G1 hope

Thursday 22 June 2017, 12:56pm

Godolphin trainer Darren Beadman is confident Kinshachi can back up within a week to give him a genuine chance to win another Group One race at Doomben.

He is also hoping first emergency Maternal can join her in Saturday's Tattersall's Tiara (1350m).

Beadman claimed his first Group One win as a trainer with Impending in the Stradbroke Handicap and the Tiara is his last chance to win an elite race before he hands the Godolphin reins to James Cummings in two weeks.

Maternal beat Kinshachi by a long head in last week's Listed Gai Waterhouse Stakes at Ipswich and Beadman believes there is nothing between them again.

"Before last week's race I was having trouble splitting them, and they both ran fantastic races," Beadman said.

"Nothing has changed since then except that Kinshachi is in the field and Maternal is an emergency, which is a sign of how strong the race is."

Beadman said Kinshachi had pulled through well from last week's run.

"I'm confident she can back up well," he said.

"She's drawn a good gate and this is clearly her toughest test to date. But she deserves her chance at this level."

He said if Maternal made the field she would also be hard to beat..

"She showed a lot of character last week, jumping from a wide gate and still fighting it out at the finish," Beadman said.

"We've got another wide draw to contend with if she makes the field, but she'll acquit herself well."
