LLOYD WILLIAMS'S FABULOUS FIVE CUPS

* 1981 - JUST A DASH

Trained by Tommy Smith, Just A Dash gave Williams his first Melbourne Cup success.

* 1985 - WHAT A NUISANCE

The John Meagher-trained What A Nuisance won the first Cup worth $1 million. It was the last time Williams was at Flemington to witness one of his horses win the Cup until this year.

* 2007 - EFFICIENT

Efficient overcame Luca Cumani-trained raider Purple Moon to win the race.

* 2012 - GREEN MOON

Williams's private trainer Robert Hickmott won his first Cup with Green Moon who was ridden by Hong Kong-based Australian Brett Prebble.

* 2016 - ALMANDIN

Williams was at Flemington to witness the victory which took him past Dato Tan Chin Nam, John Tait and Etienne de Mestre as the most successful owner in Cup history.
