Sebring Sun cleared of any injury

Monday 28 December 2015, 5:58pm

In the absence of any physical explanation, trainer Gary Portelli is putting Sebring Sun's Canterbury Classic failure down to a shifting Randwick track.

The Group One-placed colt finished last in Saturday's sprint run on soft ground and Portelli admitted he was shattered.

The trainer has concentrated Sebring Sun's preparation squarely at the $2 million Magic Millions Guineas at the Gold Coast on January 9.

Sebring Sun underwent a thorough veterinary examination on Monday and Portelli said it was all systems go again provided nothing else came to light.

"The vet has been all over him and didn't find anything wrong," Portelli said.

"He had a bit of twinge and the chiropractor worked on that.

"I can only put it down to the track. Brenton (Avdulla) said he didn't handle it.

"It wasn't heavy but it must have been shifty.

"We will be guided by his work during the week and he will have a good gallop on Saturday morning and if that's OK, we'll put him on the truck."

Testashadow, a horse who doesn't normally like wet ground, produced a win at Randwick which Portelli did not expect to confirm his place on the float heading north.

Runner-up in last year's Magic Millions Guineas, Testashadow will run in the $1 million Cup this time around.
