The United States an emergency in G3 race

Wednesday 16 September 2015, 2:49pm

Imported galloper The United States will need a scratching from the MRC Foundation Cup if he's to get the chance on Saturday at cementing a Caulfield Cup berth.

A full field of 16 plus emergencies has been declared for Saturday's Group Three MRC Foundation Cup (2000m) which carries with it a Caulfield Cup ballot exemption for the winner.

The United States is first emergency.

The Robert Hickmott-trained The United States is at $21 in the TAB's Caulfield Cup market but is equal 88th in the ballot, weighted on 50kg, and has not passed the first elimination clause.

Dual German Group One winner Our Ivanhowe is topweight with 60kg for Saturday's race and has barrier 16.

The Lee and Anthony Freedman-trained Our Ivanhowe is high up in the Caulfield Cup ballot at seventh and is set to make his spring return on Saturday after winning a Cranbourne barrier trial last week.

Kapour and Hawkspur were also accepted for the Hill Stakes at Randwick but have been scratched from the Sydney race.
