Greg Ryan nearing riding milestone

A double at Muswellbrook has prolific bush jockey Greg Ryan within reach of an Australian riding milestone.

Ryan took his career tally to 3321 with Sunday's two winners, one shy of the number ridden by the late Jack Thompson.

Only Robert Thompson, no relation to Jack Thompson, has ridden more with his score well past 4000.

Ryan heads to Forbes on Monday with a full book.

The Muswellbrook club hosted the Bengalla Cup with Paul King taking out the $25,000 feature on the Kim Waugh-trained Harry Hotspur.
