Brother to G1 placegetter stars at Gosford

Thursday 30 July 2015, 5:38pm

His Majesty, a full brother to multiple Group One placegetter Puissance De Lune, has kicked off his campaign with an emphatic win at the final provincial meeting of the season.

The Kim Waugh-trained horse settled midfield for Blake Shinn and unleashed a powerful finishing sprint to burst through the pack and run out a three length winner.

The victory was His Majesty's second in four Australian runs and took Shinn's national tally of season winners to 145-1/2.

Shinn finished 2014/15 as the country's leading rider by winners, just ahead of Dean Yendall and James McDonald.

Brenton Avdulla capped a career-best season when he wrapped up the NSW provincial jockeys' premiership with his Gosford success aboard the Matthew Smith-trained Marilisa.

Avdulla booted home more than 50 metropolitan winners in NSW to finish fifth on the Sydney jockeys' table.

The trip to Gosford was also worthwhile for Nash Rawiller.

Rawiller got on the scoreboard for the first time since returning to Sydney for a brief stint between Hong Kong racing seasons with a victory on Destiny Rising trained by his brother Todd.

The top jockey, who has four rides at Rosehill on Saturday, will be in Sydney until the Warwick Stakes meeting at Randwick on August 22 before flying back to prepare for the new season in Hong Kong.
