Double gives Yendall lead in national race

Tuesday 21 July 2015, 7:13am

A winning double at Mildura has taken Dean Yendall to the top of the Australian jockeys' premiership table.

With victories aboard In The Moment and Chicago Chick on Monday, Yendall has 143 winners for the season.

He leads James McDonald (142-1/2) with Blake Shinn third on 142.

Michael Walker sits in fourth place with 128 winners and will make a low key return to race riding at Pakenham on Tuesday after spending the past month on the sidelines with injury.

Yendall's next engagements are at Bendigo on Wednesday where he has three rides.

McDonald has rides in five of the seven races at Warwick Farm on Wednesday with Shinn having rides in all seven as the two resume their battle for the Sydney premiership.

A double at Rosehill on Saturday put McDonald back in front on 90-1/2 Sydney winners with Shinn one behind.
