Dunn brings up Flemington winning double

Saturday 18 July 2015, 2:53pm

A back-to-back double at Flemington has moved Dwayne Dunn three wins clear in the Melbourne jockeys premiership.

Dunn is riding at his final metropolitan meeting of the season, missing the last three meetings through a careless riding suspension incurred on Wednesday at Moonee Valley.

But the jockey is giving his premiership rivals something to chase after wins on the Peter Moody-trained Il Cavallo and Herstory in the fourth and fifth races at Flemington on Saturday.

Dunn's win on Herstory moved him three clear of Craig Williams and four ahead of Damien Oliver in the premiership after Oliver won the opening race on Jalan Jalan.

Il Cavallo ($2.80 favourite) sat on speed in the VRC Recognition Handicap (1000m) and held off Tansy ($4.20) by a neck.

Dunn then sat outside the leader on $3.40 favourite Herstory in the Chiquita Handicap (1400m) before sprinting away in the straight to win by 2-3/4 lengths.
