Turner, Poletti celebrate metrop victory

Saturday 27 June 2015, 1:18pm

Trainer Amanda Turner has found herself in a rare place, welcoming a two-year-old Saturday winner at Rosehill.

Intrepid Way ($11) lived up to the opinion Turner and her training partner Mauro Poletti have of his ability with a strong win in the TAB Place Multi Handicap (1400m).

Turner and Poletti, who train at Warwick Farm, now have to decide whether the gelding goes for a spell or takes advantage of wet winter tracks.

"He was going to the paddock on Monday but he likes wet tracks so we might have to keep him going," Turner said.

"He never stops eating so there's no worry on that score."

Intrepid Way ($11) handled the heavy track with ease, putting half a length on Electric Tribute ($16) with Over The Air ($8) another 1-3/4 lengths third.

He was ridden by leading Sydney apprentice Winona Costin who replaced Koby Jennings who had ridden Intrepid Way in his previous three starts which included a win at Kembla Grange.

"Koby couldn't make the weight so I got straight on the phone to get Winona," Turner said.

"He is a horse who loves girls riding him for some reason so it worked out well.

"I bought him for $35,000 at the Karaka sale and he's already earned more than that."

Costin gave Turner more encouragement to push on, saying he settled well and attacked the line like a horse that would get over 1600m to 2000m.
