Beasley back to Sydney in the new year

Monday 15 December 2014, 2:55pm

Danny Beasley will rejoin the Sydney riding ranks in the new year fresh from his most successful season in Singapore.

With 83 winners, Beasley finished second to Manoel Nunes (108) in the premiership but received the shock news last month his licence would not be renewed after seven years.

Beasley plans to spend Christmas with family in Wagga and will then base himself in Sydney where he rode successfully before going to Singapore.

"I had a really good season and also had the opportunity to ride some very good horses during the year," Beasley said.

"War Affair, Affleck and to a lesser extent Faaltless provided me with some big wins while a horse called Happy Money supplied me with seven wins during the year.

"It's been a long season but I'll be home home for Christmas.

"I've got to come back up here and tidy up a few things before moving back to Sydney permanently."

War Affair provided Beasley with three Group One races during 2014 while Affleck won six of his seven starts this year.

In his time in Singapore, Beasley rode 427 winners including five at Group One level.

He says he still has the enthusiasm for riding.

"I love riding horses and love getting to trackwork," Beasley said.

"I'll have a break now, rejuvenate and then get back into it in the new year."

Beasley began his career as an apprentice in Wagga and enjoyed the biggest successes of his career so far in Sydney in the early 2000s.

He won the 2003 Golden Slipper on Polar Success and partnered Grand Armee to six of his seven Group One wins including two Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
