Trainer Jason Warren says he may have to follow jockey Craig Newitt to Singapore after the pair combined for a winning double at Sandown.

After teaming up to score with Sang Choi Bao on Saturday, they later returned to land the Listed Christmas Cup with Danger Close.

The victory of Danger Close capped off a two-meeting treble from only three runners for Warren with Forever Alone scoring on debut at Stony Creek.

Sent out a $7 chance, Danger Close scored by a short neck from Mr Make Believe ($18) with Eight Bills ($8.50) three-quarters of a length away third.

Warren took Bel Sprinter to Singapore in May 2013 and the gelding finished second to Lucky Nine in the KrisFlyer International Sprint.

Newitt starts a six-month riding contract at Kranji on January 1.

"I said to Froggy (Newitt) if he wins today we might have to bring him over to Singapore for you," Warren said.

But first Warren has some more black type to capture and has his eyes on the Standish Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on New Year's Day.

Warren said Danger Close now deserved his chance at the extra journey as he was now settling a lot better in his races.

"We have to try him at 1200 (metres) again," Warren said.

"We know how to ride him now, he's very good down the straight and he's settling a lot better.

"I would be confident of him running it out now."

Newitt said he was confident of success but noted the gelding had probably got to the front too soon.

"I'm sure there's a bit better race in him on that," Newitt said.

"I said to the owners that I'd just ride him the same way as I rode the other bloke earlier in the day.

"We got to the 500 metres and he towed me into the race but probably got to the front too soon in the end."
