Acanthus was a speedy race mare who won two races (one by 3.5lengths over 1100 metres and the other by 2.8 lengths over 1000 metres). She also won her last start trial.

Acanthus is a half sister to to the well credentialed Cruskit (winner of more than $170,000).

Acanthus is by Lion Hunter, a prolific getter of winners, including GOLD EDITION, LOVELY JUBLY, FEROCITY and STREET SMART. Lion Hunter is already emerging as a potential boom broodmare sire. His Group 3 winning daughter, LEONE CHIARA is the dam of this year's Blue Diamond winner STAR WITNESS.
