Back to the drawing board with Adebisi

BRISBANE Jan 27 AAP- Trainer Desleigh Forster has ordered some tough love for sprinter Adebisi following his failure in the Canterbury Classic.

Forster took the Group Three winner from Brisbane to Sydney full of hope but, after leading to the 200m, Adebisi led to the 200m weakened to run second last in the 1100m Listed sprint on Friday night.

Forster admits she doesn't often get angry with her horses but Adebisi has her seeing red.

"Michael (jockey Cahill) said on the home turn he thought how far are we going to win by. Then at the 200 metres Adebisi just refused to concentrate," Forster said.

She said vets had been "all over" Adebisi and there seemed to be nothing wrong with him.

Adebisi has been sent to Washpool spelling complex near Brisbane.

"He is in for some tough love," Forster said.

"We will put him over the hurdles and see how he likes that.

"It should get him to concentrate and then we will bring him back and try and ride him with a sit," she said.

At his best Adebisi is one of the fastest horses in Australia but has struggled since winning the Group Three Rubiton Stakes in Melbourne last year.

The six-year-old has won 10 of his 41 starts and almost $750,000 prize money.
