Skyerush out to confirm Group One target

Friday 26 October 2012, 2:57pm

Consistent mare Skyerush will be out to confirm her place in the Group One Myer Classic alongside star stablemate Streama when she runs at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Trainer Guy Walter said Skyerush's performance in Saturday's Group Three Trojan Hand Tools Stakes (1600m) would decide if the seven-year-old backed up into the Group One Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington the following week.

Walter already has dual Group One winner Streama heading to the Myer after her last-start Tristarc Stakes victory.

Skyerush ran fourth in the Group One fillies and mares race last year.

"She'll probably go into the Myer but we'll just see how she goes tomorrow first," Walter said.

"She would need to run well.

"She ran a good race in the Myer last year for fourth."

Skyerush was second to More Joyous first-up in the Golden Pendant in Sydney before a close third in her second appearance of her campaign in the Angst Stakes.

The mare got a look at Moonee Valley in trackwork on Tuesday.

"She's a seasoned mare and has travelled a lot before. She's settled in well," Walter said.

"She's had the two starts in Sydney and should be pretty right for the mile now. I think she's well-placed in the race tomorrow."
