Visibility concern forces Caulfield change

Wednesday 10 July 2019, 12:17pm

Race times for the Sir John Monash Stakes meeting at Caulfield have been brought forward to ensure the meeting finishes with good visibility.

Racing Victoria announced on Wednesday that Saturday's meeting would begin at 11.15am (AEST) with the final of the nine races on the program scheduled for 4.10pm, effectively one race earlier than originally scheduled.

The moves comes after the final race at the Caulfield meeting last Saturday week, which was scheduled for 4.40pm, was run in driving rain and fading light.

RV said this Saturday's final race would be more than an hour before the projected sunset time of 5.18pm.

The Group Three Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) is the eighth race on the card and has a field of 14 included popular sprinter Jungle Edge and last Saturday's Listed All Victorian Sprint Series Final winner Malibu Style.
