Suspension sours Baster's day at Caulfield

Saturday 28 April 2018, 6:00pm

A Caulfield careless riding suspension won't deter Stephen Baster's aspirations of more stakes race success with the Gai Waterhourse and Adrian Bott stable.

Baster, who won the Listed Redoute's Choice Stakes on the Waterhouse and Bott-trained Let Me Sleep On It, incurred an eight meeting suspension on Saturday aboard Kentucky Breeze in the Changing Places Real Estate Handicap.

Racing Victoria stewards charged him with a low level offence while also taking into account Baster having only had two suspensions in the previous 12 months in handing down the penalty.

Baster rides Scholarly for Waterhouse and Bott in the Listed Warrnambool Cup on Thursday before heading to Adelaide on Saturday to ride Velocita for Chris Waller in the Group One Australasian Oaks.

He begins the suspension at the conclusion of that meeting and returns for the following Saturday where he will partner his VRC St Leger winner Runaway in the Group One South Australian Derby at Morphettville.
