Most Important decision for Tony Gollan

Sunday 13 August 2017, 2:40pm

Star Brisbane sprinter Most Important will be entered for stakes races in Sydney and Melbourne after showing his readiness in a barrier trial.

Trainer Tony Gollan will enter Most Important for the Group Three Show County Quality at Randwick and the Listed Regal Roller Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Most Important, who is raced by Queensland's biggest owners ,Linda and Graham Huddy, has not started since finishing fifth in the Magic Millions Cup on January 14.

He had previously won the Brisbane summer sprint triple crown of the Group Three George Moore Stakes, Listed Lough Neagh Stakes and Listed Buffering Quality.

It earned his connections a $500,000 bonus which lifted his total earning past $950,000.

Gollan deliberately missed the Brisbane winter carnival to give Most Important a good break before tackling spring targets.

"He had been up for months and done a terrific job. But he has blossomed during the spell and is ready to head south," Gollan said.

Most Important trialled at Doomben last week and finished second to his stablemate El Sasso.

"It was a good trial because El Sasso was out to work hard as we are trying to get his confidence back. But Most Important worked to the line well which was the main thing," Gollan said.

"I will make up my mind which way to go on Tuesday after looking at nominations for both. I also want a dry track for Most Important.

"The third option is to trial him here and then head south."

The Huddys and Gollan have enjoyed success over the past 12 months and were in the winners circle again at Doomben on Saturday with Of The Day.
