Trans Tasman trainer John Sargent has swapped one staying mare for another in his Sydney satellite yard but they could be reunited in time for next year's autumn carnival.

Fromelles arrived from New Zealand on Sunday night and is set to resume in the Angst Stakes (1500m), the only back-type race on Saturday's Rosehill card.

She will occupy a place in the Warwick Farm stable box left vacant by Quintessential, Sargent's Queensland Oaks winner who has been sent to the paddock after finishing midfield in the Spring Classic at Hastings on Saturday following two unplaced Sydney runs.

"Unfortunately Quintessential just hasn't come up so I'll send her out and bring her back for the autumn for races like the BMW," Sargent said.

As a six-year-old, Fromelles is two years the senior of Quintessential and her best win has been at a few rungs below her stablemate in the Group Three Rotorua Cup.

But Sargent, whose satellite stable produced a breakthrough win at Cessnock on Monday, thinks enough of her to consider the Sydney autumn to be the time of year where she can be placed to advantage.

"Fromelles is a staying type and I thought Saturday's race would be a good kick-off race for her," he said.

"But I'll probably only give her two or three runs in the spring before getting her ready for the autumn.

"She likes a bit of give in the ground and it always seem to rain in Sydney in the autumn so that will be the right time to have her up and going again."

Josh Parr, who found himself in the spring carnival spotlight because he just made it to Randwick in time to ride Saturday's Gimcrack Stakes winner, has the Fromelles mount.

There are 14 entries for the Angst, including Skyerush, a placegetter last year who more recently ran second to the outstanding mare More Joyous when first-up in the Golden Pendant.

Skyerush is one of four Guy Walter nominations with the Group Three winner Appearance also entered.
