Oscietra has 11 rivals at Flemington debut

Thursday 29 December 2016, 11:39am

The first foal of unbeaten champion mare Black Caviar has 11 opponents for her racetrack debut at Flemington.

Oscietra has drawn barrier three in the 1000m New Year Plate on Sunday in which she will be ridden by Luke Nolen.

It is the same course and distance that her famous mother was successful over on debut in April 2009 which began a winning sequence of 25 .

Lindsay Park senior trainer David Hayes says it is a slight concern Oscientra hasn't raced down the straight course previously, but says she has had plenty of work experience at Flemington.

He said the filly had trialled down the back straight on the inside grass at Flemington last Friday and handled that without any problem.

Nolen has ridden Oscietra in her two jump-outs at Flemington and was aboard Black Caviar in 22 of her 25 career victories.
