Jeff Lloyd leads three premierships

Thursday 29 December 2016, 11:55am

Veteran Jeff Lloyd has moved to the top of the Australian jockeys' premiership on the back of an outstanding association with trainer Toby Edmonds.

The pair combined to win with Our Lady Mac on Wednesday which was Lloyd's 27th winner this season from 65 rides for Edmonds.

He has also ridden 19 minor placegetters for the Edmonds stable.

Lloyd has 90 overall winners which is two clear of multiple Australian premiership winner, Perth's William Pike.

The South African born Lloyd also leads the Brisbane jockeys' premiership with 71 winners and the Queensland title with 89.

Last season, the then 54-year-old became the oldest jockey to win the Brisbane title with 80 wins.

Lloyd will combine with Edmonds aboard Prompt Return (Falvelon Quality) and I Am The Sculptor (Provincial Series final) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

"Prompt Return hasn't run since early November but he did win a trial and goes well fresh," Edmonds said.

"As I keep saying Jeff is a complete professional and does his homework before races. That is why he is so good."
