Bart Cummings will be remembered in a public memorial service on Saturday at the track where the master trainer's legend was made.

The service will be held on Saturday at 10.30am in the mounting yard at Flemington racecourse, the venue of the Melbourne Cup.

Cummings won the Melbourne Cup a record 12 times and was known as `the Cups King'.

He died last Sunday week, aged 87, at his NSW home and a state funeral was held for the legendary trainer in Sydney on Monday.

Saturday's service will be held before the Makybe Diva Stakes meeting which also features the running of the Let's Elope Stakes.

Let's Elope gave Cummings the ninth of his 12 Melbourne Cup wins in 1991.

Bart's son Anthony will speak at Flemington along with racecaller Greg Miles and John Marshall who rode the Cummings-trained Rogan Josh to victory in the 1999 Melbourne Cup.

Rogan Josh will also be at Flemington.

A video tribute will be played at the end of the ceremony and 268 green and yellow balloons will be released representing Cummings' racing colours and his tally of Group One wins.

Jockey Kerrin McEvoy will wear the green and gold colours aboard the topweight, Cosmic Endeavour, in the Let's Elope Stakes as one of the other tributes to Cummings on the day.
