Melbourne Cup entries in St Leger

Friday 11 September 2015, 6:06am

Three of trainer Aidan O'Brien's four Melbourne Cup entries are among the final declarations for the English St Leger at Doncaster.

Bondi Beach, Fields Of Athenry and Order Of St George will run in the final Classic of the British season on Saturday.

O'Brien, who trained Adelaide to win last year's Cox Plate, has not had a Melbourne Cup runner since 2008.

Frankie Dettori had been linked with the ride on Bondi Beach but will not now be in action at Doncaster.

He will head straight to Leopardstown to partner Derby winner Golden Horn in the Irish Champion Stakes after the Group One showpiece at the Dublin track was brought forward 65 minutes because of expected rain.

William Buick will ride Bondi Beach with Colm O'Donoghue to partner Order Of St George and Silvestre de Sousa to link with Fields Of Athenry.

O'Brien will wait until the last minute to decide whether Gleneagles faces off against Golden Horn at Leopardstown amid concerns the track may be too wet.
