Jockey Skye Bogenhuber's rocky start to her association with Mymateswifty has been forgotten with the pair combining for their third consecutive win.
The Michael Nolan-trained Mymateswifty ($2.60) continued Bogenhuber's stellar start to the season when he provided her 13th overall win for August in the City of Ipswich Hcp (1200m) on Wednesday.
Bogenhuber is a four-time premier jockey at Toowoomba and rode four winners at the Darling Downs track last Saturday night.
She rarely comes down the Toowoomba Range to ride at Brisbane metropolitan meetings but was keen to stay on Mymateswifty at Ipswich.
"I have done a lot of work with him. When we first met we had a disagreement when he wanted pull his old wheeling-about tricks," Bogenhuber said.
"But we have been great mates ever since. The fact he has now won three in a row including today's metropolitan win shows how much he has matured."
Dead Set Jet ($4.80) lived up to a strong recent Deagon trial second and gave jockey Tim Bell his first metropolitan winner of the new season when he won the Sirromet Three Year Old (1050m).
Bell, who won the 2013/14 Brisbane premiership, had a late start to the season after taking a holiday but showed no signs of rust with a near perfect ride to win.
Trainer Tony Gollan decided to geld Dead Set Jet after he failed on a heavy track at the Sunshine Coast in April.
"Dead Set Jet's dam Stravain Lady was one of the first horses I trained so I am showing my age," Gollan said.
"Dad (Daryl Gollan) bought Dead Set Jet as a yearling and got a syndicate of friends together to race him."
Bell made it a winning double when he steered the Stuart Kendrick-trained Queen Caesar to claim the Queensland Times Hcp (1350m).
