Multiple Group One winner Dissident will begin his new career at stud this spring with the added honour as Victoria's Racehorse of the Year.
During his final season on the track, the Peter Moody-trained Dissident won three Group One races, two on his home track at Caulfield.
Dissident was announced a a clear winner on Sunday with 109 votes, 47 ahead of second placegetter Brazen Beau.
There was a much closer battle for the Fred Hoysted Medal for outstanding training performance with Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist's German trainer Andreas Wohler edging out Aidan O'Brien for the honour.
The Irish trainer of Cox Plate winner Adelaide was one point behind with Wohler with the partnership of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig third.
Wohler said the Melbourne Cup was an experience he would not forget.
"I had read about the Melbourne Cup, had seen the Phar Lap film and seen old films of the race," Wohler said.
"I was lucky enough to have a runner and luckier to have a winner.
"I have never seen a build up to a race like this before."
Leading jumps jockey Steven Pateman won a record eighth Tommy Corrigan Medal in nine years.
Other awards were given to the premiership winners for the season with Damien Oliver the leading metropolitan jockey, Darren Weir the trainer and Patrick Moloney the leading apprentice.
Dean Yendall was recognised as the leading jockey state-wide.
