Eden maps out interstate plans for Dancer

Stakes-placed filly Novel Dancer is being aimed at interstate features with trainer Shea Eden determined to find wet tracks for the three-year-old.

Novel Dancer is nominated for a 1200m race at Flemington on Saturday but Eden said the filly was most likely to be saved for a race in Adelaide on April 18.

"She's definitely a horse that we've got to wait for wet tracks," Eden said.

"She jars up on firm ground."

The Listed Redelva Stakes (1100m) on April 18 is the race Eden has pencilled in.

"We'll probably look at a couple of races in Adelaide and then on to Queensland," Eden said.

The Group One Tattersall's Tiara in Queensland is on the radar.

"I think she's shown us that she's got the ability to get there and she's at home on wet tracks so it's the right time of year for her," Eden said.

"We've just been easy with her, waiting and hoping the rain comes. If we don't then we'll probably have to alter her preparation around a bit."

Novel Dancer won a maiden at Echuca on debut by six lengths on a soft track and then scored by almost four lengths in a metropolitan-grade race for two-year-olds at Mornington last May, also on a rain-affected surface.

She resumed with a gallant third in the Quezette Stakes after a wide run, with classy filly Sabatini winning.

Novel Dancer then failed on good tracks when stepping up in class, finishing last in the McNeil Stakes and then eighth in the Thousand Guineas Prelude.

"We've given her a good break and she's grown into a big, strong filly now," Eden said.
