Two winners in two days for Blueblood Thoroughbreds

Monday 16 March 2015, 4:39pm

After a strong win from Justiceforall in the last at Yarra Valley (1950m) yesterday (15th March), Denman Flyer became the second winner in only two days for the BlueBlood team.

Justiceforall proved too good for his rivals after winning strongly with 60kg’s on his back. Damian Lane gave him the perfect ride and Justiceforall’s efforts were equally as good.

The Adrian Ledger Memorial (2400m) on the 27th March looks to be the likely next race for the 4yo son of Not A Single Doubt trained by John and Chris Ledger.

Previously trained by Mick Price in Melbourne, Denman Flyer was transferred to Michael Costa’s Sydney stables late last year for a change of environment in the hope of a form turn around.

The 3yo gelding by Denman returned this preparation a bigger and stronger horse, and that showed today in the first race at Bathurst (1000m maiden) when he fought bravely to hold on and post his first win on debut for his new trainer.

Jumping from barrier 2 in a field of 9, Miss Rachael Murray took advantage of Denman Flyer’s early gate speed to take the lead. She was given a fairly easy time in front and Denman Flyer travelled nicely heading into the home straight.

Second place getter Burradoo put his head in front at the 100m meter mark but Denman Flyer showed plenty of determination to fight back and win by a head.

Michael Costa and his team have done a great job of building up Denman Flyer’s confidence and as a result, he is racing far better for it. The win makes it 2 winners from 2 BlueBlood runners for Michael Costa, who also trained Shebrings Class to her maiden win on Melbourne Cup Day last year.

Congratulations to all the connections in both Justiceforall and Denman Flyer and a special congratulations to Michael Costa and his wife Mel who recently gave birth to their first child Harvey Costa last Thursday morning.
