Dissident has continued trainer Peter Moody's recent dominance of the Group One CF Orr Stakes with another convincing weight-for-age win at Caulfield.
The four-year-old was ridden confidently by jockey Ben Melham and the $2.80 favourite surged clear in the straight after taking a trail to notch Moody's fifth win in the past six years in Saturday's 1400-metre race.
Dissident, stud-bound later this year, added a fourth Group One win to his record as he defeated the resuming Entirely Platinum ($14) by 1-1/2 lengths with a long neck to Mourinho ($18) third.
Dissident won the Memsie Stakes and Makybe Diva Stakes at weight-for-age in the spring to go with his Randwick Guineas win as a three-year-old.
After incurring a three-month ban when he bled in the Caulfield Stakes in the spring, Dissident returned in the Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley last month and was beaten as favourite.
Moody was critical of Melham's ride that day but said it was great to see the horse bounce back at one of his pet trips and assert his dominance.
"I'm very proud of the horse. He's done a tremendous job," Moody said.
"He's probably one of the best milers, if not the best miler in the country. He's a four-time Group One winner and it's good to see him bounce back."
Melham settled in a trail behind Entirely Platinum who led with three-year-old Java to his outside.
Entirely Platinum dictated and kicked strongly which had Dissident off the bridle and chasing.
But once Dissident balanced up he descended on the lead and raced away.
Moody had won the CF Orr with Typhoon Tracy (2010-2011), Black Caviar (2012) and Moment Of Change (2014).
The Futurity Stakes looms next for Dissident with Sydney Group Ones also on the radar.
Dissident's victory was the middle leg in a winning treble for Melham who won on the Moody-trained San Nicasio in the Autumn Stakes and Tycoon Tara in the Bellmaine Stakes.
"When they sprinted they left him a bit but when he balances up and then changes stride, that's when he really motors," Melham said.
