Dee suspension forces Valley rider changes

Friday 19 August 2016, 7:28am

Michael Dee's midweek suspension has forced several jockey changes for the Carlyon Stakes program at Moonee Valley.

Dee was released from his rides at Saturday's meeting to begin a careless riding ban after Sale on Thursday.

Craig Newitt replaces Dee on O'Malley in the Listed Carlyon Stakes with Newitt's original mount Sunday Escape scratched.

Apprentice Beau Mertens will ride last-start winner Au Revoir in Saturday's 2500m-race while Jordan Childs replaces Dee on the Darren Weir-trained Steggler and Royal Rapture in their events.

Jake Bayliss rides Refuse To Lose while Michael Walker is on Plenty To Like.

Comeback apprentice Jye McNeil has picked up the ride on the Mick Price-trained Yulong Baby.

McNeil made his return last week after more than four months recovering from a broken tibia and fibula suffered in a pre-race mishap at Bendigo in March.

He rode his first winner since his comeback at Sale on Thursday.

A replacement has yet to be named for the Lee and Anthony Freedman-trained Nicoscene in the William Hill Handicap (1200m).
