The future of Loch Oir may lie overseas after a fighting win at Flemington.

A debut winner at Warrnambool earlier in July, Loch Oir added the Murray Cox Handicap on Saturday to his unbeaten record.

Ridden by Craig Williams, Loch Oir was backed from $4.20 into $3 favouritism and scored a short-head win over Odeon ($19), with Back To The Bowler ($9.50) and Stately Boy ($14) sharing third spot 1-3/4 lengths away.

Ben Connolly, representing trainer Ciaron Maher, said the gelding, a $20,000 yearling purchase in Melbourne in 2015, would hopefully be sold to Hong Kong.

"That was the idea when he was first purchased," Connolly said.

Maher, enjoying a short break in New Zealand on the ski fields, is the sole owner of the son of Street Boss.

Williams, who rode five winners at the last Flemington meeting on July 9, increased his lead to two over Dwayne Dunn in the jockeys' premiership.

The leading rider said Loch Oir would continue to improve.

"He's had two starts for two wins and that was an improving track today after his first-up win on the heavy," Williams said.

"I love his attitude."

Loch Oir took advantage of a narrow run on the fence and Williams said he would not have won if forced to go around rivals.

"It was either hope for the rails run or be very unlucky," he said.
