Six international horses remain in contention for the Caulfield Cup while Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien has three of the six northern hemisphere-trained horses among the first acceptances for the Cox Plate.

First acceptances for both races closed on Tuesday with 114 horses still paid up for next month's $3 million Caulfield Cup (2400m).

Japanese duo Fame Game and Hokko Brave are two of international horses paid up in Caulfield Cup entries along with Snow Sky, Trip To Paris, Max Dynamite and Quest For More.

The Cox Plate has 92 first acceptors including three horses from Aidan O'Brien's stable.

They are Secretariat Stakes winner Highland Reel, Cougar Mountain and Ol' Man River.

O'Brien won the Cox Plate last year with Adelaide.

Highland Reel is one of three international invitees for the Cox Plate that are still entered along with Arod and Gailo Chop.

Lightning Spear is the other international first acceptor for the Cox Plate.

Last year's Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist, who is 58kg topweight for the Caulfield Cup along with Snow Sky, holds Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate entries.

Criterion, Kermadec, Pornichet and Winx, however, have not been paid up for the Caulfield Cup but are first acceptors for the Cox Plate.

New Zealand and Australian Derby winner Mongolian Khan holds Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate entries and kicks off his spring campaign in Saturday's Makybe Diva Stakes.

Fame Game heads the TAB's Caulfield Cup market at $9 with Highland Reel, Kermadec and Pornichet joint favourites for the Cox Plate at $11 ahead of Contributer, Criterion, Fawkner and Hartnell at $15.

There are 13 three-year-olds among the Cox Plate first acceptances.

There are 108 first acceptors for the Thousand Guineas for three-year-old fillies while there are 100 horses still entered for the Caulfield Guineas.
