Way We Go maintains perfect record

Saturday 11 July 2015, 3:58pm

Bargain buy Way We Go continues to live up to his trainer's high opinion, adding a Saturday win to his midweek success on debut.

Hawkesbury trainer Garry Frazer paid $4000 for the son of California Dane at a sale at Dubbo in western NSW.

After he won his first start at Warwick Farm last month, an offer came from Hong Kong but the gelding failed the vet inspection and Frazer was more than happy to keep him.

Punters shared Frazer's confidence, sending Way We Go out as the $3.90 favourite in Saturday's All Too Hard @ Vinery Handicap (1100m).

Apprentice Claire Nutman's three-kilo claim brought him into the race on 51.5kg.

Nutman had Way We Go just behind the speed and released the brakes in the straight with the gelding cruising to a 1-1/4 length win over Melbourne visitor Reigning Meteor ($8.50) with early leader Momma's Snitzel ($8.50) another half length third.

"He still doesn't know what he's doing," Frazer said.

"That's the scary part. He could end up somewhere we never dreamed we'd be.

"He's the best horse I've trained in a long while. I know Hurrara is past his prime but to give you a guide, nothing beats Hurrara in his trackwork, this bloke puts four or five lengths on him."
