A filly trainer Nigel Blackiston believes has a bright future will get her first taste of stakes racing in the Taj Rossi Series Final at Flemington on Saturday.
Ma Raison made an encouraging debut at Flemington two weeks ago when she hit the line for fourth over 1400m.
Finishing ahead of her that day were Bengal Cat, El Greco and Irada and all three of those horses are among the favourites for Saturday's Listed two-year-old race over 1600m.
"She came from well back and I thought she finished the race off lovely," Blackiston said.
"The mile will suit her and if we get a bit of rain she'll be even better."
Blackiston believes Ma Raison, a daughter of Makfi, will get over further as she gets older and he is already looking forward to the filly's three-year-old season.
"She always wants to please you in what she does and I think in the autumn next year she could be a very exciting filly," Blackiston said.
The Australasian Oaks in Adelaide next year is a potential long-range target.
Ma Raison, an $18 chance, will be ridden by Melbourne jockeys' premiership leader Dwayne Dunn who holds a one win lead over Craig Williams and a two-win advantage over Damien Oliver.
Williams rides Bengal Cat in the Taj Rossi Series Final while Oliver is on El Greco.
