Jenkins charged over raceday medication

Thursday 9 July 2015, 5:41pm

Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Brian Jenkins has been charged by stewards with breaching the race day medication rules.

Jenkins will front the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board in Melbourne next Tuesday after stewards charged him with applying Vicks VapoRub to two horses, Crown Halo and Seguro, on the day they were due to race at Pakenham on June 25.

Vicks VapoRub contains the active ingredients camphor and menthol which act as a decongestant and are prohibited substances under the rules of racing.

Both horses were scratched by stewards after a report from the Compliance Assurance Team and following an interview with Jenkins.
