Beriman leads Rising Star Series in Vic

Tuesday 30 June 2015, 7:01am

Apprentice Jackie Beriman will miss the final of the Victorian Rising Stars Series to take up an opportunity to ride in the United States.

Beriman took the lead in the series with a win at Echuca on Monday on the Shaun Dwyer-trained Lazyaxl.

The Rising Stars series comprises 25 races over the season for apprentices only, culminating in the final at Flemington on July 19.

Beriman has been selected to represent Racing Victoria in the third leg of the Apprentice World Championship Series in Sacramento on July 18 for Arabian horses.

Fellow Victorian apprentices Ben Thompson and Jake Bayliss have ridden in the first two heats, with Thompson riding at Kentucky in the US while Bayliss competed in Poland.

Beriman's win on Monday, her third in this season's series, took her to 56 points, 12 ahead of Jye McNeil.

With two more races left, Beriman can still be overtaken.
