Risen From Doubt on notice at Flemington

Thursday 11 June 2015, 12:03pm

Risen From Doubt has been put on notice ahead of his return to Flemington where he is unbeaten.

Trainer Tony McEvoy has been disappointed with the three-year-old's two starts in Adelaide this campaign when well beaten but he believes the colt has been "pinching himself" in his races and is going better than his form suggests.

McEvoy said if Risen From Doubt doesn't perform to expectations on Saturday in his return to straight-track racing he could be gelded.

"His preparation has been really good but his two runs have been poor, below what is expected," McEvoy said.

"I feel he's been pinching himself on the turns.

"He's going to be well told that if he doesn't fire, he's going to get the ultimate gear change," McEvoy said.

Risen From Doubt contests Saturday's AR Creswick Series Heat 3 (1000m) after being beaten four lengths first-up and then finishing 10th in the Group Two Euclase Stakes (1200m).

"Luke Nolen rode him for me the other day and he travelled into the turn like he thought he was going to run in the top three but then halfway around the turn he was going to run last," McEvoy said.

"So he just switches off around the bends.

"He's two for two down the straight and I feel the horse is going very well so I've decided the bring him back to this track."

Risen From Doubt won the Listed Maribyrnong Trial at Flemington on debut in the spring of 2013 and then he won again at Flemington in a 1000m race on Melbourne Cup day last year.
