Tristram's Sun given Caulfield green light

Thursday 14 May 2015, 2:34pm

Tristram's Sun won't be joining stablemates Lord Of The Sky and Cinnamon Carter in Adelaide and instead will race at Caulfield.

The gelding was an acceptor for the Robert A Lee Stakes at Morphettville but his presence in the Carlton Draught Handicap at Caulfield will provide Laing with at least one runner in four states on Saturday.

Laing also has Boomwaa engaged in the Scone Guineas and Shandaara will run at the Gold Coast.

Tristram's Sun will be having his third run back after a spell and was an eye-catching fourth in the Wangoom Handicap at Warrnambool on May 6.

"He bounded in the air at the start which put him three or four lengths further back than I wanted," Laing said.

"He got speared wide on the turn and then zoomed home in what was a very good run."

Laing said the 3kg claim for apprentice Jake Bayliss and the increase in distance was ideal for Tristram's Sun.

The trainer will travel to Adelaide to saddle Lord Of The Sky in the Goodwood and Cinnamon Carter in the SA Fillies Classic.
