A 17-length win in a barrier trial convinced punters Alberto Magic was the one to be on at Rosehill but trainer Allan Denham was not quite as confident.
Sent out the $3.70 favourite in the Ken Callander Fellowship (1200m), Alberto Magic got the job done in style when he let down under Jason Collett in the straight to beat Turbulent Jet ($18) by 2-1/4 lengths.
Alberto Magic won a 900m trial at Gosford 10 days ago in a performance that worried Denham.
"I wasn't happy. I don't like to see them win trials like that," Denham said.
"It was a heavy 20 and I was concerned.
"But he showed today he doesn't have to lead to win and we'll probably bring him back in a couple of weeks.
"I was lucky enough to get him from Guy Walter and he's won two races for me now."
Moments later, another ex-Walter horse, I've Got The Looks, scored her second Listed win for Peter and Paul Snowden when she took out the Juanmo Stakes at Doomben.
The popular Walter died of a heart attack almost a year ago with his horses dispersed a couple of months later.
