Payne proven right with Bel Show

Injured jockey Jack Hill wasn't far from the thoughts of Henry Dwyer after the win of Bel Show at Flemington.

Hill has been hospitalised since a fall at Donald on March 27, and earlier this week was moved to Epworth Hospital for rehabilitation after regaining consciousness late last week.

Dwyer said Hill had done most of the work aboard the Union Road Community Hub Trophy (1200m) winner Bel Show along with Holy Fire, which was successful for Dwyer at Cranbourne on Friday night.

"A big thanks has to go to Jack and I hope he gets some form of kick out of this win," Dwyer said.

Ridden by Michelle Payne, Bel Show ($26) scored a three-quarter-length victory from We've Got This ($$2.50 fav). Usain Dane ($14) was 3 1/4 lengths away third.

Dwyer attended the Sydney yearling sales during the week and said it was Payne who convinced him to run the gelding at Flemington rather than Pakenham on Sunday.

"Michelle said to come here and she's been a pretty good judge for me over the past couple of years," he said.

Dwyer said he had no specific plans for the gelding but said he might look to Adelaide for the Group Two Euclase Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on May 9.

Payne said after the gelding's work on the course proper at Caulfield on Tuesday, she was confident of a forward showing, although the win was a bit of a surprise.
